Design and Architecture Workshops (DAWorkshops.com) creates a single platform where workshops are listed and shared to simplify posting and finding workshops and the research they produce. The website makes it easy for people to find out what workshops are taking place and where, and allow tutors to advertise for par- ticipants. It also allows material and research to be accessed long after the workshop has ended. While the academy is decentralising, it is important to record workshops and collect and collate the research that is being done to help foster connections and for knowledge to be accessed and shared more readily. The initial idea came from an exhibition Nous curated in 2010 called Spontaneous Schooling where we exhibited the work and research of 84 workshops worldwide. A publication was created in which we asked 10 questions to all of the workshop tutors. By comparing and reviewing the different processes, methodologies, outcomes and experiences, we were able to talk about and under- stand the importance of workshops as never before, discussing and challenging workshop criteria, pedagogy, and outcomes. |
